"Hard" disks are the actual storage media within the hard disk drives. These disks are rigid platters coated with a material capable of accepting magnetic charge. They normally spin at three-to-four thousand revolutions per minute, roughly ten times faster than the average |floppy disk|. A typical hard drive will have several platters, each with one or more |read/write heads|. Hard disks are capable of storing significantly more information than floppy disks, with common capacities of 100 |megabytes| or more.
